Tatay left us 2,312 days ago. I was still working in Luzon that time. Nanay told me that 4 days before he left, he only said, "I am going." Nothing more, nothing less. He didn't even explain why he was leaving. Before I could react to what my mother had told me, my eyeballs were already floating on my flooding tears!
I can't understand why Tatay had the courage to do it. My younger brother has just graduated from college and our younger sister was still in her senior year in the secondary school that time.
Despite the continuous development in communication technology, our family has neither received any message nor any news from him since then. He must be very happy of his new life in another foreign land for him to forget us that much!
Today is Tatay's 57th birthday, and just like the past 6 Father's Day celebrations, we have decided not to bother him of our greetings anymore.
