He didn't even explain why he was leaving. Before I could react to what my mother had told me, my eyeballs were already floating on my flooding tears!

I can't understand why Tatay had the courage to do it. My younger brother has just graduated from college and our younger sister was still in her senior year in the secondary school that time.

Despite the continuous development in communication technology, our family has neither received any message nor any news from him since then. He must be very happy of his new life in another foreign land for him to forget us that much!

Today is Tatay's 57th birthday, and just like the past 6 Father's Day celebrations, we have decided not to bother him of our greetings anymore.

I was 24 when my father 'left' us, he was 46. This year I outlived(?) him by one, for I am now 47.
Twenty three years had passed, but sometimes I am still wondering how it feels to have a 'buddy' who is 22 years older -- a man who was so close to me than any other, by my side.
Nakaka-miss talaga ang mga ama... lalo na pag may mga tanong ka sa buhay mo ngayon sa edad na alam mong pinagdaanan nya na. :)
