Wash up...

RR, RJ, and Bembem eating durian; Quezon Boulevard, Davao City.

I featured DURIAN- the most famous fruit in Davao City, Philippines in my previous entry entitled 'Warm-up'. Lord CM of the Dungeon has left a comment asking about the aphrodisiac property of the fruit...

Well, the traditional Chinese medicine says that durian has a warming property which causes excessive sweating when eaten. Southeast Asians, especially the Javanese (Indonesians) believe that this thorny tropical fruit possesses an aphrodisiac property! There is actually an Indonesian saying: When durian fruits fall, the sarongs come up.

In the 1960's, durian was discovered growing in the wild in Davao, Philippines. But this fruit is native to Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia. No wonder, many Singaporeans call the Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay as 'The Durian'.

Sardonyx, Kcatwoman, The Pope, and Mulong said that durian has a very distinctive foul odor! While Darkhorse asked in his comment in Warm-up if durian is really smelly. Yes, it is! But I love durian's pungent odor. So MarcoPaolo, even if durian smells like 'ehem', no worries...

...just gargle and wash your hands with water after eating!
